New Delhi: Deepika Padukone and director Sandeep Reddy Wanga are making headlines after actresses out of the upcoming film ‘Spirit’. While the departure has been officially confirmed, speculation continues around the reasons behind it, several reports alleged that the decision has arisen with disagreement on the expectations of the working hours.
Since then, the conversation around the work-life balance in the film industry has drew attention. In the ongoing discussion, adding his voice, the artist, actor, writer and Advocate of Creative Freedom, Suchitra Krishnamurthy has now weighed the issue.
In a special interview, Suchitra Krishnamurthy spoke about the ongoing discussion, expressing a balanced perspective on both sides of the issue. He said, “Everyone has the right to demand, and everyone has the right to reject, so I think nothing is wrong with Deepika and there is nothing wrong for this that the manufacturers have not accepted it”
He insisted that these are deep personal decisions of individual circumstances. “These are very personal options and people are in very different stages of life, you know, some newcomer will say ‘8 hours what, Mai 24 hours work’, but I can say that I do not want to work.” (People are in different stages in life, a newcomer can say, ‘I will work 24 hours a day,’ while no other person can work.)
“It all depends on the phase of the life that you are on and what you want for yourself and I think all demands are valid and I think all acceptance and all rejections for those demands are also valid,” he continued.
He concluded, “I don’t think any party is right or wrong, it is the same.
For unfamiliar people, Deepika Padukone was initially declared as a leading woman in front of Prabhas in Sandeep Reddy Wanga’s much awaited film Bhavna. The project created considerable enthusiasm, marking a significant cooperation among some of the biggest names of the industry. However, Padukone later withdrew from the film, attracted attention from both fans and the inner sources of the industry.
Shortly after her exit, director Sandeep Reddy Wanga took a ‘PR game’ and ‘Trust’ on social media with a cryptic post. While he did not directly name anyone, the time of the message and the vowel assured many people that it was a reaction to the legend going around Padukone’s departure. The post quickly became a talkings point.
On the work front, Suchitra Krishnamurthy, who made his debut in front of Shah Rukh Khan, returned to the spotlight with the drama Queen – The Musical Play. The project adapted to its book with the same name is also the first Indian music audibook of Audible.
