JSK vs. State of Kerala gets a new release date following a legal case on the title of films

Thiruvananthapura: After weeks of controversies over the title of the film, the makers of Suresh Gopi’s ‘JSK vs State of Kerala’ have finally announced the film’s new release date. It was earlier asked to release on 20 June.

With a difficult legal battle around the title of the film, actor Suresh Gopi took his Instagram handle to share the much awaited release date of the film.
The film is now scheduled to release worldwide on 17 July.

While sharing the new release date, the manufacturers wrote, “Behind every delay … is a truth to fight.” And in the end that truth will always be strong !!! Janakai VV/S State Kerala. The U/A16+ Certification released worldwide on July 17. ,


The release of the Malayalam film ‘Janaki vs State of Kerala’ starring Union Minister and superstar Suresh Gopi was stopped after the demand of the censor board for the film title change.
According to the producers of the film, the censor board asked him to change the name ‘Janaki’, saying that it also refers to the Hindu goddess Sita.

The film tells the story of a woman who faced the attack and took a legal battle against the state. The board allegedly stated that the name of God should not be given to a woman who was attacked.
The release of the film was scheduled for June 20.

The CBFC’s regional office in Thiruvananthapuram approved the film with a U/A certificate. The film was later sent to CBFC headquarters in Mumbai, where officials demanded a change in the title.

If the title of the film changes, according to the film’s producers, mentioning many dialogues of the film, it will also need to be changed.
In response, the manufacturers of ‘JSK vs. State of Kerala’ transferred to the Kerala High Court to challenge the change.

In addition, artists of the Malayalam Cinema and Serial fraternity under the umbrella of Amma (Association of Malayalam Movie Actors), Producers Association and Fafka (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) staged an opponent of the regional office of the regional bureau of Film Certification in Thiruvanalam in the Chitranjali Studiostram.
