When? Moonwalk Release in theaters, the first day of the film’s crew was the most emotional, first show, choreographer of the film Sreejith P. “Even though I saw the last product, sitting there with the audience, I was reminiscent of hard work and struggle that went back to making it. I could not take back my tears,” 53 -year -old, also known as Sreejith P. Dazzellers, as he runs dance studios, dazzlers in Kochi.
The film, he says, is special for him in many cases. Directed by advertising filmmaker Vinod Ek, it tells the stories of some youth in Thiruvananthapuram in the late 80s, which falls in love with breakdance and how they remove obstacles to advance their passion. The story is inspired by the real -life stories of many Breakdenser in Kerala, one of them is Sreejith itself.

“I entered the field at a time when the dance in Kerala was due to a change of change. Breakdance was close to its sunset years, and was taking cinematic dance moves. I could both learn both, and help while working in the film,” Nejith, Joe meets Tripunithura near Kochi.
Sreejith said that he had once planned to make a film on a breakdance. “I had to face many difficulties to learn a breakdance and he wanted to tell the story through a film. But back I was not sufficiently sufficient to make one. So when Vinod discussed with me, I was excited to be a part of it. We used to work on some advertisements till then.”

Moonwalk, He says, there was no easy task. Despite being a good dancer, the actors were not familiar with all new faces, breakdance era. “The story is such that these characters only have basic information about the style and only know a few tricks, such as mirror effects, arm waves, rope moves, popping etc.. It was difficult to mount a film on these stages. So I designed it in such a way that they slowly master the styles and their skills.

The first step was developing them the body and the control of the body of a breaker. “After training them to be skilled for the climax, we went to the beginning where they had to dance like beginners. It was difficult to show this difference.”
Sreejith was introduced to Breakdance when he was in class 10, when he spent his leave at a relative’s house in Thoppampada, Kochi. “When I saw a pair performing in a church festival, I immediately fell in love with music, steps, costumes etc.. I met the dancer backstage, raised some tricks and showed these steps in school.”

He remembers the struggle behind choreographing a routine. “The first task was to find the cassette because I only knew the tune and not the song. I went to the music shops and sang the tune so that they would recognize the song.
He later trained at the Breakdance at Cochin Kalabhavan, the center of learning performing arts in Kochi in Kochi under Johnson Master. “I also participated in a syllabus in Dutakkalari in Bangalore, which inspired me to think about creating concept-based movements.”
Moonwalk It is set in Thiruvananthapuram, which had a breakdance style separate from Kochi. Even then Sreejith was chosen as a choreographer as he is also familiar with the Thiruvananthapuram style.
“The Kochi style was more on energy with heavy, power-pack movements, and rock n ‘rolls and disco elements, while in Thiruvananthapuram it was more stylish with focus on body posture and perfection. They had more knowledge, which they had thanks to the reference materials they had, which are videos.” Formal. “
He picked up Thiruvananthapuram style from the leading Breakdance Academy, Footlosters in the state. “We were fans of the vibe that he was made with dance and acrobatics. On Friday evening, one of us from Kochi would be the head of Thiruvananthapuram on his bike. We practiced at Footlosures Studio or Shangumgham Beach and returned on Sunday evening.”

I still remember how happy I was when I saw a white action shoe for the first time. The film, he says, a nutritious chapter of his career will remain. “I am grateful, happy and proud. Then we did not have many stages to perform then we were regular in houses where marriages took place. It was the place where non-narrators also shaken a leg. Sreejith says that the breakdance era is not over. “Many dancers disappeared from the scene and picked up jobs forced by their circumstances. When these dancers were celebrated during the release. Moonwalk, The general tone was that there is no future for style. But it will survive in the same way how the theater stood long amid attacks of many other forms of entertainment. ,

Sreejith says as a choreographer that he is on an experimental journey in his enterprise, boho space. “The effort is to arrive on new concepts and movements. I am working on a project related to virtual reality. ‘Use and throw’ is another production on the concept, which is unfortunately, relationships have also been tuned. I am also planning to develop a package for those who are emotionally stressed because dance gives you a comfort, happy.”
Meanwhile, he also plans to direct a film. “Now I have the confidence to contact craft. So I can make a try in future.”
