New York: Stephen Collbert has announced that the late show will end after its 10th season.
According to Peoples, Colbert announced on Thursday 17 July at Ed Sulivan Theater in New York during the show taping.
Colbert, who took over the show in September 2015 after David Letterman retired, told Live audience that CBS had decided to end the program in May next year.
“Before we start the show, I want you to learn something that I came to know last night,” Colbert said during his early monopoly. “Our last season will be next year. The network will end the late show in May.”
The audience replied with Bose, to which Kolbert replied, “This is not just the end of our show, but it is the end of the late show on CBS. I am not being replaced,” he said.
“All this is just going away. And I want to say that the people of CBS have been a great partner,” he said.
He went to share that he feels extremely “grateful” for his team and fans. “I am an exceptionally grateful to 200 people working here. We meet to do this show. We meet this show every day, all day to do this show, and I have the joy and responsibility to share what we do every day in front of this camera for the last 10 years.”
“And let me tell you, this is a great job. I want someone else to be receiving it, and this is a task I am eager to do with this normal gang of idiots for another 10 months,” Kolbert said. “It’s going to be fun.”
The CBS later confirmed the news to the people, explaining their cause: “This is a financial decision against a challenging background in a purely late night. It is not related to the show’s performance, content, or other matters in paramount in any way.”
“Our praise, affection, and the honor of Stephen Collbert and his incredible team talents made this tortured decision even more difficult. Stephen has taken CBS late at night with a storm with a state -of -the -art comedy, a monologue, and in all fields, and all areas should interview with leaders in entertainment, politics, news and newspapers.”
The statement said, “The show has been late at night for nine straight season; Stephen’s comedy is daily echoed in digital and social media; and broadcast is a head of the nation’s zegotist.”
The late show with Stephen Colbert has been a top artist in late night television, leading the ratings for nine straight sessions. The final episodes will be aired during the 2025-2026 TV season.
