Kannada actor and former MP Ramya on Monday filed a complaint with Police Commissioner Bangalore against the alleged online oppression by fans of another cine actor Darshan. ,
In her complaint, Ms. Ramya said that sharing news reports about the Supreme Court proceedings in the murder case of Renukaswamy, in which philosophy is one of the accused, inspired her fans to send a “unpleasant” message on social media.
“Dissatisfied fans of actor philosophy have sent condemnable, frightening and unpleasant messages to my Instagram handle through various accounts. The messages sent to me are so disgusting and wrong that I am unable to do the same in the complaint,” he said in his complaint.
He produced messages in the form of contracts and also provided a list of Instagram handles from where he received messages. He requested that strict action should be taken against the criminals and their Instagram handle should be taken down.
“Trolling and abusing women actors has become common because people are not speaking about it openly. Our self-esteem and dignity is given importance in society, because as women, it is how we are raised. Most women are afraid of killing character. They are not comfortable to get the misbehavior that we are not doing today to know that we are not making the misuse. Said.
Earlier in the day, the Karnataka State Commission for Women (KSCW) took cognizance of the recent misuse directed on Ms. Ramya and wrote to the Police Commissioner to take appropriate action.
“There are reports that actor and former member (MP) Ramya on social media is being directed by defamation messages. It is harming the woman’s reputation and the Commission has taken up the issue seriously. Therefore, please investigate the matter and take appropriate action to stop the defamation messages against the people involved.”
Meanwhile, a non-profit organization dealing with sexual harassment in the Kannada film industry, Film Industry for Rights and Equality (Fire), Home Minister. God wrote to God demanding action against those who are trolling Ms. Ramya online and abusing them.
