Lokesh comes with the hopes of the Coolie under the direction of Kanagaraja – a huge star lineup by Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan and Aamir Khan, a huge star lineup including a crowded cameo. While the scale and ambition of the film are clear, its execution stumbles in parts.
Cooli Movie Storyline, Plot
This plot follows Dev (Rajinikanth), whose childhood friend Rajshekar (Satyaraj) dies under suspicious circumstances. Rajshekar’s eldest daughter Preeti (Shruti Haasan) prevents Dev from attending the funeral. Soon, the deity finds out that death was not a heart arrest, but a murder. Parallel to this, the police plant informer in the empire of Mafia boss Simon (Nagarjuna), whose operations are run by Dayal (Saubin Shahir). Rajshekar, it turns out, was working under Simon to remove his daughters from a dangerous threat.
The first half is serviceable but dull. The second half, tight and more entertaining, delivers on the rivers drama promis. Rajinikanth’s entry scene is pure mass-syninema bliss. As a moment sees him bursting in a song with a thumkus and full swag, the next shows him breaking at the loss of a cute friend.
Coolie stunt scene
The battle scenes in the cool are gritty and often violent, relying on direct, heavy blasts. Blood and physical damage is shown without much restraint, which gives a raw edge to the collision. Every major character in the cool is an introduction to the scale of the film, in which Lokesh Kanagarj and his cinematographer have prepared each entry as a visible event.
Naik
The whistle rings with Nagarjuna’s introduction, but the script later sidelined her, which weakened the effect of the character. Interestingly, this is the first time the audience saw him as an opponent, and he did not take his share.
Aamir Khan, in his limited screen time, creates a striking impression. The direction of Kanagarj deserves praise to staging pieces of grand sets without losing the vision of emotional beats. Music adds energy to action, not groundbreaking, and increases dramatic moments.
Coolie’s multi-starrer cast
Compared to other recent multi-starrer ventures such as Housefull 5, which fails to effectively use its power-pack ensel, cool manages a better balance, even if not innocent.
Finally, Cool is a great revenge drama that has enough spectacle to satisfy star power, memorable moments, and enough spectacle, although tight writing made it a classic.
Cool is now playing in theaters in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
