Filmmaker-producer Vinayan has alleged that the election was not held on August 14, 2025 for the Executive Committee of the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) in a Democratic manner.

In a Facebook post on Friday (August 15, 2025), Mr. Vinayan said, “Even the person who had supported my nomination to the post of general secretary could not cast his vote because of danger and offered with a section that was in power for a long time.”

Mr. Vinayan said that a senior manufacturer who stood with him in the election, at the last minute, was “silent”. This indicated that “the power power by the group, which wanted to convey the message to others, would control the association for a long time,” he said.

He alleged that the outgoing committee was not able to remove doubts on whether the association would have a legal control over the Board of Directors of Digital Cinema of Producers, which is a material-mastering unit launched under KFPA.

He alleged that the group which was in power for a long time was not eager to increase the count of membership to maintain its control over the body. He also praised the chairman of the general body meeting of the association for not allowing an individual, who stood for a verbal attack on producer Sandra Thomas.

She also alleged that the members of any other organizations do not prohibit the Film Employees Federation of Kerala and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists, found inside the voting hall between the allegations that the body of the manufacturers had surrendered their identity before such organizations.

The KFPA election hit the headlines, especially after rejection of nomination filed by Sandra Thomas to the post of President. Ernakulam sub court rejected his argument against the decision by the Returning Officer.

B. Rakesh and Listin Stephen were elected as the Chairman and General Secretary respectively.
