Mumbai: Veteran actor Dharmendra is remembering, and paying homage to the cinematographer of his prestigious film ‘Sholay’. On Sunday, the actor took on his Instagram, and shared a throbac picture of himself with the cinematographer late Dwarka Divecha on ‘Sholay’.
He also gave a note in the caption to pay tribute to the late artist, and urged his followers to rumor the DOP’s biography.
He wrote, “Late Mr. Dwarka Devecha (‘Sholay’), director of cinematography. He was always very loved and sociable with all of us. People behind the camera are mentioned, although they bring us on the silver screen. Please read his biography”.
Dwarka Divecha was also an actor, and shared the screen with Shami Kapoor, Padmini in ‘Singapore’. He was also involved in making the set of ‘Sholay’, which is considered to be the first Western Spegty film of Hindi cinema. It starred a contingent of artists from Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Amjad Khan, Sanjeev Kumar, Ak Hangal, Sachin and Hema Malini.
The film is one of the biggest films in Hindi cinema, which is in its grandeur, performance, technical talent, action, music and direction. It was at the top of all the time of the 2002 “Top 10 Indian films” of the British Film Institute. The film was written by veteran screenplay Writing Duo Salim-Jawd, and became one of the longest-long-lasting films in Indian cinema.
Earlier, Ramesh Sippy, director of the prestigious film ‘Sholay’, shared an interesting anecdote when he saw the audience’s response to the film in theaters when released.
The director spoke with IANS ahead of the film’s 50th anniversary, and a cinema owner talked about the time invited by a cinema owner to see the first-hand reaction of the audience, while it was being introduced to the audience.
He told IANS, “A cinema person called me. He said, ‘Come to my cinema’. It was city light cinema. He said, ‘Can you see there? No one is coming here to do a cold drink. There was a gap. There was a gap. There was no one”.
“He said,” Do you know why? Because people who were inside the hall were super-atant. They were behaving as if they have never seen anything like this. ” I said, ‘Are you sure?’
