Federico Garcia Lorca was a Spanish poet, playwright and theater director in early 1900. They have written The House of Bernarda Alba In 1936, two months before the killing by nationalist forces on the outbreak of Spanish Civil War.
This drama, which will be first presented by the Jagari Theater, revolves around their lack along with control, power, freedom.
In the play, Bernarda Alba announced an eight -year mourning period after her husband’s death. However, the five unmarried daughters are still at home, this decision becomes unhealthy and negative emotions among the family.
“I have always enjoyed Lorca’s work and it is one of the three plays that he wrote in his lifetime,”, “, Jagrati Theater’s founder-trustee, says,” I was very keen on this because I wanted to play Bernarda. I wanted to play Bernarda. I wanted to play Bernarda. I wanted to play a permanent.
Arundhati says that *this drama may appear to be about women in a patriarchal society, “There is a lot of it – strength and freedom, as well as its loss, and who does for individuals.”
She adds however it adds The House of Bernarda Alba It was written in 1936, shining through Loraka’s talent. “It reads like a modern script. Unlike other functions of that time, there are no long monologues and the plot appears that comes through simple dialogues. It stood for me as a script.”

Another aspect of the game that appealed to Arundhati was a description of Lorca. “On the title page of the play, he referred to this work as ‘a photographic documentation of women’s life in rural Spain’.
“This promotes my interest in thinking how we can represent this aspect in our work. I have designed set in Black and White. Also, Black-end-white photos will be introduced in the beginning and between each Act; our own way of presenting a live photographic documentary.”
Although a monochromatic set and the idea of the play is his idea, Arundhati says that he has not customized or modified the script. “I am from a generation who has only worked with the script and we had a lot of fantastic to choose. For me, it has always been about looking at the lines through the playwright’s eyes; he had a vision, and he wrote a dialogue. It is not for me to change it.”
According to Arundhati, many plays have a tendency to say, although it is still written long ago, but class inequality, sex division, oppression and sexuality, with their subjects of sexuality, The House of Bernarda Alba Today is relevant.
