It launched its Spirit of India Collection, Lladró for the first time since twenty five years, Spanish luxury Porcelain House has collaborated with Indian sculptor Arun Yogiraj, who has supported her first cooperation with an Indian artist. The brand has unveiled a limited version of Ram Lalla high porcelain sculpture.

“This cooperation, which combines Indian spirit and heritage with Spanish artistry, is coming together with patience, devotion and craft,” says Mysuru-based artist Arun, who came in prominence after sculpting Ram Lalla Murthy, which reflects Lord Ram, a five-year-old for the Ayodhya temple.

Launched in 2001, The Spirit of India Collection began with Lord Ganesha and since then launched many limited-sanskrit statues inspired by Hindu mythology.

Arun’s associate process with Lladró began in 2024 when the brand reached him, and he spent about a year working at the launch. “While the stone-carved sculpture in Ayodhya is seven feet, we had to work here on making an idol which was one and a half-faced long. I did not know much about how to work with porcelain, and through this process, it has been found that it has been fired at high temperatures to give strength.

It also included a visit to the workshop of Laladrod in Valencia, Spain, where Arun worked with sculptors led by the brand master sculptor Raul Rubio. It took a 20 -day handcraft time to complete each piece, and Arun says that he was in awe of the passion, craftsmanship and experience seen at work. “For example, 500 individual porcelain flowers in Garland in each statue are fully handed by hand. Each individual artist has different skills set, for this, come together, and I also got the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge,” he says.

The creative director of Nieves Contrares, Lladró, reflecting 25 years of The Spirit of India Collection, says it was natural for him to launch with a collection in the Indian market that mixes spirituality, culture and craftsmanship. “Iconography of Indian sculptures; all colors and jewelry are very interesting to work on porcelain as it is a material that allows many possibilities in terms of shapes, colors and finishing,” she explains.

India is currently the third largest market of Lladró at the global level, and 499 units make a part of this limited-sanskar collaboration, which is important for collectors in India and the world.

The limited-sanskrit Ram Lalla sculpture costs ₹ 12,50,000 and is available in Lladr boutique across the country.
