Although there is a classic attraction for black-end-white images, works in charcoal, add a dash of romance with their coarse-aid-edge finish. A single show by artist Gautam Bansal in charcoal and motion, this medium includes mass -executed tasks.

Bangalore -based Gautam, an alumni at Frank Anthony Public School, says that his attempt with art began in childhood when he began to participate in art classes until the age of six to improve his talent. After graduating in advertising, design and art, especially from Wigan and Leh College, Gautam’s career path ran digital marketing, real estate and his design firm. However, he never allowed art to go, whenever he could make pieces.

Says Gautam, “I faced Charcoal in Art College for the first time and I took it immediately. I have always been partial as color black and anything monochromatic, such as black-and-white photos echo with me.”

He says, “As I started understanding the nuances of this medium, the more I was done by it. The first painting I made by it received a lot of praise, which encouraged me and promoted my confidence.”

Nevertheless, it was only after attending more than 30 group shows and India Art Festival, that Gautam seriously took his “passion into profession” and took to become a full -time artist in 2022.

Charcol is his first solo show in Stayless and Motion and 30 images have been made on the performance in the last two years. Even a passing eye on the canvas reveals its love for animals and nature – galloping horses, a dog’s soulful form, storm in the sea and more.

However, the close-ups of the elephant and the eyes of the horse hold your gaze. Along with detail -in two tones what they express deeply are amazing. The roughness of a trunk or the velvet tenderness of the snout can almost feel the roughness of the vein.

Gwatam says that animals represent their naturally. “For me, horses reflect not only strength, but also communicate a grace of movement and a visual appeal. The white tiger is an endangered species, which is mostly seen in zoos and rarely in the wild, and yet they do not have the tendency to survive.”

He connects some of his works with fond memories, such as a picnic in childhood or when he first saw a splash around someone in a pond. Talking through the canopy, he reminds about spending time under trees in Cuban Park, which is to catch a glimpse of the sun from under the sun.

Gautam says that memories, milestones, and challenges they have found their way into their work – in the flexibility of the tiger, the misery of the horse and the migration of Wildebest is full of danger, if they will ignore the crossing.

Charcoal in Stillness and Motion by Gautam Bansal is on performance in sublime Galleria till 7 September. Admission fee. 50.
