New Delhi: For Kashmiri Pandits, the much awaited festival of Panna is celebrated on Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayak Tachoram (Vinakaya Chaturthi) in Kashmiri. This year it is marked on 27 August and when most devotees bring Bappa idols home, they worship it for all good things in life. Most of the Kashmir Pandit families, on this day, pray to the goddess, who are revered as Bib Garb Mej (standing for the mother) and Ganpati (Vinayaka) respectively.
Most Kashmiri Pandit is scent of domestic decasi ghee, fresh flowers, and delicious Roth Prasad. Pan Puja or Pann Pooja is originally associated with the spinning of the newly produced cotton and the twin agriculture is associated with the worship of local goddesses, Vibha and Garkha, for whom devotees are known as Roths.

Pann Pooja Prasad: Roth
A Roth is a preparation like a sweet bread that is first given to the goddess and then distributed between each other. It is also believed that two local goddess -deities have turned into one, known as Bib Garb Mej – Mother Goddess who is prayed on this day.

Lord Ganesh, Goddess Bib Garb Mej: Pann’s rituals
Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi are also revered in Puja. Bib Garbh Maayez, Goddess who is the main deity on this day, is seen carrying a lota or a water pot, which is kept in the puja area. Then, the most important thing is that a single long cotton thread is tied to the pot of the pot, with a handful of dramun or runner grass inside it, which again indicates its agricultural origin.
Some rice, flowers and dramun grass are then distributed among the family members who sit in the puja and the preparation of the Roth is placed in front of the goddess and the earthen pot in front of the goddess, to offer offerings to the goddess. In addition, some fruits are introduced to Maa Devi in ​​addition to Roth.

On this day, Bib Garb Table is offered after fruits and Roth Prasad, a famous story (story) of Goddess Bib Garb Mej is read by a person, while others listen to this story carefully. The story is similar to the Satyanarayana Katha read during the fast.

After reading the story, the people present in Pann Puja offer drumun grass, rice and flowers in the pot and pray to the goddess with folded hands for prosperity and good health.
Roth and fruit offerings are consumed by devotees and the rest of Roths are distributed among friends and family.
There is also a tradition that goes-you distribute the exact number of Roths to special families respectively and the practice of sharing Roth Prasad should continue year-on-year without failure.
In the same month, there are different dates when Roth Prasad can be made and Pann Puja can be operated. But the majority celebrates it on Vinayak Chaturthi. It is a symbol of prosperity, auspiciousness and has more importance in Kashmiri homes.
There are Pann Sath dates for 2025 27 August, 28 August, 29 August, 30 August and 31 August. It is based on the Kashmiri Panchang calculation.
