Ladies in music, satire converts weddings into social comments

In India’s cultural fantasy, The wedding music is a scene of music, comradery and color. What if that gathering became a platform for women to question expectations and share their truths during generations?

This is the basis of the writer and director Purva King Ladies Music: A Music DrunkWhich mixes music, humor and social criticism. Kiran Nadar was presented as part of its growing cultural programming by Nadar Museum of Art (KNA), the play returns to Delhi-NCR after almost a decade, in the garment house, Gurugram on 30 August.

The production of Mumbai (established by Purva and Asmit Pateer) is the music of Vidushi Shubh Mudgal, Harpreet, Anadi Nagar and Nishant Aggarwal.

For Purva, drama art is deeply attracted to its early years. Trained in Kathak and collision, she recalls that her gurus are being urged to surrender a thorough surrender to a discipline. “Home at home was encouraged to question and find,” she says, “but my gurus and institutions always pushed me to obedience and choose one form on the other.”

Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune found a voice of further investigation, Rukmini’s character.

The background of the wedding, Purva, says, came naturally. “Fetish of North India inspired the subject and universe of this drama for the wedding ceremony.”

Laughter as a lens

what makes Ladies music Typically there is a mixture of humor and severity. “Music and comic prevents drama from becoming heavy,” Purva says, who prefer satire and music as a tool when working against popular stories.

Her characters attract from life -Magha reflects her mother’s generation, while the wedding planner was inspired by a small town event manager, who she met once on a tour.

“He promised to show me a demo on his ‘Lappi’ [laptop] When it was clear that he had no one. For a while I wondered if she was making an advance, “she laughs.

What started as a comedy became a metaphor: “The joke was not on him alone, it was on all of us. He showed how society celebrates us with gaiety with gaiety.”

Women in generations

At its core, Ladies music There is a conversation between women in generations – each strengthens its way, interacts differently and modernity. For Purva, it was deeply individual. “It was difficult not to judge them and yet prevent them from becoming unilateral,” she believes.

“I praised him and expressed sympathy because they were brave women – flexible above all, although sometimes less analytical,” Purva says.

Tells about women

The play also shows its own quarrel between reverence and rebellion. “As a classically trained dancer and percussionist, I have deep respect for art and my gurus. I had to find a balance between undisputed reverence and informed honor.”

Still relevant, still resonant

On topics of almost a decade Ladies music Be relevant If anything happens, Purva feels that marriages have become more hypocrisy only. “When the last investigation was done, the weddings have become large, long and fictionally ridiculous,” she says.

Social media, she says, has only promoted hunger for spectacle. “The only change is that middle-class parents are hand-twisted in organizing grand weddings with less guests, so the couple may have more space for friends or a serious festival.” The rise of ticket ‘fake weddings’ and music events, especially in Delhi, proves its point.

For KNMA, production aligns with its broad cultural mission. “As we expand into new geography, the presentation is a part of our big effort to connect with new audiences and make accessible and thought-elastic encounters with art,” Arts, Senior Curator for Canma, throw light on Editi Jaitley.

Theater contract with your audience

For Purva, theater remains the most powerful medium to investigate such contradictions. “The moment the audience buys a ticket is a contract. They suspend disbelief, and the artist promises a world through imagination. How can it not leave an impact on both sides?” She asks.

“All these reactions tell us that there is an effect – that they are hearing,” Purva says.
