Mumbai: Three upcoming films by Jio Studios, “Ghamasaan”, “Saali Mohabbat”, and “Ban Tikki” have been selected for the prestigious 16th Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF).
The festival to be held from 18 September to 21 September will be shown on September 19.
Marking the beginning of Tisca Chopra’s direction, the film talks about a woman from a small town that revolts against domestic violence and betrayal. The project’s dress actors include Radhika Apte, Ansuman Pushkar, Dibendu Ganguly and Anurag Kashyap.
Supported by Jyoti Deshpande, “Sali Mohabbat” marked the production debut of famous fashion stylist-producer Manish Malhotra.
The next day, on 20 September, the audience will see the “Gamsan”.
Under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia, the film takes us to the heart of the country with a stressful rural thriller who speaks for the roots of India and the rise of a young nation is still interacting with its past.
In lead roles with Pratik Gandhi, Arshad Warsi, and Ishita Dutta, “Gamasan” has been produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Piyush Singh, Ashwini Chaudhary, Abhiyanand Singh and Saurabh Gupta.
On 21 September, the audience will be treated for the “bun tikki”- a poignant drama that catchs the illusion, tenderness and calm courage of a small child and as people around it they struggle with the questions of identity. The film stars Shabana Azmi, Zeenat Aman and Abhay Deol in important roles, with Nasharat Bharucha and Rohan Singh. Manufactured by Jyoti Deshpande, Dinesh Malhotra, Marijke Desusa and Manish Malhotra, “Ban Tikki” also marks the feature film debut of director Faraz Arif Ansari.
