Sabar BondaA story facility of Rohan Parashuram Kanwade is set to release in theaters in India on 19 September. The film, which won The Grand Jury Award, the Sons’ Film Festival 2025 is distributed by the Spirit Media of Rana Daggubati.
Around 17,000 submissions worldwide stood as India’s only feature in the competition and according to a press release, marked another milestone as the first Marathi-language film for the premiere in the festival.
Sabar Bonda has Bhushan Manoj, Suraj Suman and Jayashari Jagtap. It revolves around Anand, a resident of a city living in a city with personal damage and family pressures, as he climbs a 10-day mourning ritual in his ancestral village. Amidst the bumpy beauty of western India, he finds solitude and relationship with Balya, who is facing similar social expectations to a childhood friend.
Accommodated filmmakers Nagraj Manjule, Nikkhikil Advani, Sai Tamhakar and Vikramaditya Motwen work as executive producers on the project.
Kanwade said that the film is a part of it. “This film is a part of mine, which is of the size of those and moments who have made me who I am. To see that it grows with an idea with an idea, and now finally feels deep, deeper and heavy. It is actually special to partner with Spirit Media to release the film in India,” he said in a statement.
He said, “This makes the journey even more meaningful, the support of incredible filmmakers such as Nagaj Manjule, Nikkhal Advani, Sai Tamhkar and Vikramaditya Motwen, who have come on board as executive manufacturers. Such voices are a source of honor and great power to make Sabar Bonda champions.”
