Advocate Madhav Mitra represented Deepika Padukone, echoing similar arguments, stating that she could not be held accountable to alleged manufacturing faults.
Hearing the case in Jodhpur, Justice Sudhesh Bansal noticed that cedar lacked factual basis. The court then ordered a stay on the FIR, which provides interim relief to actors and company officials.
The next hearing has been scheduled for 25 September.
The case arises from a complaint by a resident of Bharatpur, who accused Hyundai Motors of selling him technically a faulty car, resulting in financial loss. The FIR alleged that since Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone supported the brand, they too were responsible for misleading customers.
However, actors say that the fees are not legally durable, as brand endorsement products are not equal to accountability for defects.
At the hearing of the Rajasthan High Court, senior advocate Kapil Sibal appeared for Shah Rukh Khan, senior advocate Madhav Mitra represented Deepika Padukone, and senior advocate Vivek Raj Bajwa argued on behalf of Hyundai MD Anaso Kim.
After hearing the arguments, the bench gave interim relief to all the petitioners by staying in Bharatpur. Petitions filed by Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Anaso Kim and an official of another company emphasized that there were no specific allegations against her.
Raksha further argued that the complainant, advocate Kirti Singh, had been using the car for nearly three years and had already run it for more than 67,000 kilometers. If he had a real complaint, he said, he could contact the consumer court instead of registering a cedar. The petitioners said that it was not legally appropriate to register a criminal case under such circumstances.
