Actor and director celebrated Robert Redford died at the age of 89.

Robert Redford was an Oscar -winning actor and director who became one of the most permanent icons in Hollywood. He is known for classics such as Butch Cassidi and Sunandan Kid and all President’s men. He won the Oscar for the best director and another honorary Oscar.

In 1978, Redford found that the Sunandons Film Festival in Utah to promote independent films, and which has become the most influential independent film assembly in the world.

He was also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He portrayed the villain Alexander Pierce at Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Once the “just one and California Blonde” was rejected as the attraction and Cragi good look of the Redford made him one of the most punneable leading men in the industry for half a century, and one of the world’s most recognizable and most liked film stars.

Redford defeated the hearts rapidly in romantic roles like “out of Africa”, “candidates” and “all the men’s men” and “The Electric Horseman” and the middle-aged millionaire-like drunken-year-old-and-a millionaire and slanted the image of their golden-fighters in the roles of pre-rodio shampoos, which offer “offering sex in vulnerable proposal.”

He used millions of people created to launch the Sunndens Institute and Festival in the 1970s, promoting independent filmmaking long before small and bizarre.

He never won the best actor Oscar, but as a director, his first outing – 1980 family drama “ordinary Peepal” – won the Oscar for Best Pictures and Best Director.

Nevertheless, he was the best for two early films made with Paul Pneumon – 1969 Western Capper “Buch Cassidy and the Sundays Kid”, and “The Sting” (1973), both became classics.

Despite his chemistry and long personal friendship, Redford had never re -forming a team with Pneumon, who died in 2008.

“Buch Cassidi” made the blue -eyed Redford a star overnight, but he never felt comfortable with a celebrity or male Starlet image that remained late in his 60s.

He once told New York magazine, “People are related to how I look, it is a miracle that I did not become a self-conscious drop of protoplasm. It is not easy to be Robert Redford,” he once told New York magazine.

Intensely private, he bought land in remote uta to retreat in the early 1970s and enjoyed the level of unknown privacy for most superstars. He was married to his first wife for more than 25 years before his divorce in 1985. In 2009, she married German artist and prolonged partner Sibel Szggers for the second time.

Redford used its star status to search for challenging film projects and quietly champion environmental reasons such as Natural Resources Defense Council and National Wildlife Federation.

“Some people are analyzed. I have Utah,” he once commented.

Although he never showed any interest in entering politics, he often spied a liberal view. In an interview in 2017, during the presidential post of Donald Trump, he told Eskwire magazine that “politics is still in a very dark place” and Trump should “leave for our profit”.

Dreams of being a painter

Born on August 18, 1937 in the city of Los Angeles Beach in Santa Monica, which he described as a “lower working class family”, Redford launched a college baseball scholarship, but lost it after a long party.

Deciding that he wanted to become an artist, he moved to Italy and later to New York to study painting. He enrolled in the drama school to try his hand in the dramatic set design (“Acting looked attractive to me,” he remembered) but agreed to take on stage and by 1959 he was a full -time artist on broadway and later worked on television.

His film was started in 1962 in a low -budget film called “Warhunt”, but first paid attention to Jane Fonda in “barefoot in the park” (1967).

He turned down the role by Dustin Hoffman in “The Graduate” (“I never looked like a 21 -year -old college student, who had never been laid,” he later said for “Buch Cassidy and Sunandan Kid”. The 1970s brought “The Way We Weight” and “The Great Gatsbi”.

Since the 1980s, he dedicated more time to producing films and establishing the Sundays Institute – a year -long workshop for aspiring filmmakers – and Sunndens Festival, which has become one of the most influential independent film showcases in the world.

In 2001, he won an honorary, or lifetime achievement, Oscar.

Redford was active in films as an actor and producer until the end of his life. In 2017, he re -associated with Fonda for the Netflix drama “Hour Sools at Night”, “a romance between a widow and a widow.

“I live with her for sex scenes,” Fonda told reporters when the film’s premiere was in Venice. “He is a great kisser so it was fun to kiss him in my 20s and kiss him again in about 80s.”

Redford said at the time that it would be one of his last films as an actor and he was planning to focus more on direction and his first love art.
