Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu shared the details of the possible cremation site for the late singer Zubeen Garg, who died on 19 September after the Scuba Diving accident in Singapore.

Speaking to the media, the Assam Education Minister said that he is still determining the cremation site for the mortal remains of late singer Zubeen Garg.

However, after discussion with the singer’s family, Minister Ranoj Pegu said that the family has requested the cremation to be held near Guwahati.

Speaking to the media, Ranoj Pegu said, “This morning, after the arrival of the mortal remains of the singer at home, we discussed with the family to determine their preferences for cremation. There were two options, two alternatives, Jorhat and Guwahati are partners at both places.” Of Assam. ”

According to Ranoj Pegu, the cremation is likely to be held in Kamkuchi village of Sonpur, Assam. The final decision will be taken after the meeting with CM Himant Biswa Sarma.

Meanwhile, thousands of emotional fans gathered at Arjun Bhogeshwar Barua Sports Complex today, who was killed in Singapore on Friday to pay his final honor to popular Assam singer Zubeen Garg.

The mortal remains of the late singer are currently placed in Bhogesawar Baruah Sports Complex for their fans and well -wishers before their funeral.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the remains of the singer would be placed in the Arjun Bhogeshwar Baruah Sports Complex in Sarusajai, fans reached the venue to pay their final honors.

Meanwhile, the Assam government has announced a three -day state mourning in view of the death of singer Zubeen Garg.

The Assam CMO said that there will be no official entertainment, formal program or public function during this period.

Assam’s 52 -year -old Icon died in Singapore on Friday after the scuba diving accident. His body was flown in Delhi and later taken to Assam on a commercial flight to Guwahati on Sunday morning.

Known as the cultural icon of Assam, Zubeen Garg was not only a singer, but also a musician, music director, actor and filmmaker. With a career spread over three decades, he lent thousands of songs in Assamese, Hindi, Bengali and many other Indian languages.
