Zubeen Garg’s last film “Roi Roi Binale” released to packed theaters across Assam, receiving an overwhelming response.

Roi Roi BinaleAssamese cultural icon Zubeen Garg’s last film broke all opening day records with pre-dawn shows on multiple screens across Assam on Friday (October 31, 2025).

An emotional wave ran across the state as fans of the late singer-composer-actor, who had booked first-day tickets a week in advance, flocked to single-screen and multiplex theaters for the first show at 4:25 am. This sequence continued till the last show of the day at 10.25 pm.

The film’s distributor Siddharth Goenka said on Friday (October 31, 2025), “For the first time in the history of Assamese films, the film released in more than 25 cities including remote Vapi in Gujarat, Indore, Raipur, Visakhapatnam and Vellore. It is being shown in 17 theaters in Bengaluru, a first for Assamese films.”

“There will be an unprecedented 600 shows per day across 91 screens in Assam and elsewhere in the North-East region. Outside the North-East, the film will be screened in 96 halls with 170 shows per day,” he said.

Roi Roi Binale It is a musical love story set against the backdrop of a region recovering from the wounds of insurgency. The late Garg, who played the lead role of a blind artist in the 147-minute film, was the producer of the film along with his wife Garima Saikia Garg and Shyamantak Gautam.

The film’s director Rajesh Bhuyan said, “Making a soft romantic film full of songs was Zubeen da’s dream for almost two decades. He had predicted that the film would break all records. We are happy that his words have come true, but sadly he is no longer with us to experience this feeling.”

Garg died on September 19, 2025, while swimming off an island in Singapore. He was scheduled to perform at the North East India Festival there.

Seven people, including festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahant and the late singer-actor’s manager Siddharth Sharma, were arrested in connection with his death.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said he was grateful to Garg’s fans and film lovers Roi Roi Binale On the path of cinematic history in Assam. He said that he would rather host a private show than attend a public show to watch the film.

He said, “If I go to cinema halls, people will be inconvenienced due to security and logistical concerns. Theaters are especially screening Garg’s posthumous magnum opus so that people can pay tribute to their icon.”

Assam Gana Parishad (AGP), one of the two regional allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party, booked all 218 seats for the show at a multiplex in Guwahati for party leaders and workers.

AGP Mr. Atul Bora and Keshab Mahant were also among those who watched the film shown at 11 am. “The film touches the heart because Zubeen is no longer with us,” Mr Bora said.
