The video begins with Francesca introducing herself and explaining the importance of recording the clip. She reads reviews shared by viewers on Letterboxd and asks her father to guess. One user wrote, “Ratatouille would have thrived in this environment. I won’t say any more about it.” Realizing this immediately, Scorsese quipped, “Goodfellas.”
Another fan noted on the review forum, “My alternate title: White people ruin everything, movie.” The director speculated that the film would be Killers of the Flower Moon. Francesca also read a follow-up review for the film, saying, “Nothing could have prepared me for Leo’s teeth in this.”
The next review said, “Pro-lobotomy propaganda, TBH,” and the filmmaker quipped, “Shutter Island.” Adding his personal notes, Scorsese said, “I wouldn’t go so far as to say pro-lobotomy; this is a guy who… you have to watch the whole movie to get it.” Other films that the filmmaker speculated about were Cape Fear, The Age of Innocence and The Departed.
One film the director failed to recognize was “The King of Comedy”, after the review read, “I hope Martin Scorsese never finds out about Stan Twitter.” Meanwhile, in the caption of the video, Francesca wrote, “He taught me cinema; I taught him letterboxing.”
