Del Toro’s version stays close to Mary Shelley’s story while adding its own emotional and visual style. Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), he described the release as the end of a “big episode” in his life. He also explained how horror allows filmmakers to explore delicate, personal and emotional subjects. “What does it mean to be human in a moment of inhumanity, war, and doubt?” He said.

A fresh perspective on Victor Frankenstein

according to yahoo newsThe story focuses on Victor Frankenstein, a scientist determined to cheat death by creating a man from body parts. Departing from the book, Victor’s father is shown to be a cruel and perfectionistic man. Victor is in love with his younger brother’s fiancée, Elisabeth, and his uncle Heinrich finances his experiments.

Actors accept the challenge

Jacob Elordi spent 10 hours a day in makeup to transform into the creature, calling the process “biblical” and “from the Spirit.” Oscar Isaac said that Victor’s father shaped his relationship with the Creature. “The creature, he doesn’t even see him as a son; he only sees him as an extension of his victory or his failure. And so it allows him to treat her so cruelly because he’s treating himself the same way,” Isaac explained.

Mia Goth, who played Elizabeth, admitted that she struggled with fear on set. “When I landed in Toronto, I felt very green and scared,” she said. “At the end of the day, I just had to do the work that was being assigned to me.”
