Sydney Sweeney says she is ‘proud’ of the film Christie, and shares that the film was ‘the most influential project of my life’.
Sydney Sweeney reacts to the disappointing box office performance of her latest release Christie. The actor shared BTS photos from the making of the film on his Instagram account and said that he is ‘proud’ of the film they have made. The biopic drama stars Sydney and former pro boxer Christy Martin.
What did Sydney say?
Sydney wrote on her Instagram account, “I am so proud of this film. Proud of the film David made. Proud of the story we told. Proud to represent such a strong and resilient individual like Christy Martin. This experience has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”
She added, “This film is a symbol of survival, courage and hope. Through our campaigns, we have helped raise awareness for the many people affected by domestic violence. We all signed on to this film with the belief that Christie’s story can save lives.”
It further reads, “Thank you to everyone who saw, felt and believed this story and will believe in this story for years to come. If Christy gave even one woman the courage to take her first step toward safety, we will have succeeded. So yes I’m proud. Why? Because we don’t always make art just for the numbers, we make it for impact. And Christy has been the most impactful project of my life. Thank you Christy. I love you.”

Meanwhile, the performance of his film has been poor at the box office. according to box office mojoThe film managed to collect only $1.3 million for a per-theater average of only $649. The film now ranks among the top 10 worst openings for new releases on more than 2,000 screens. The three films below were released during the pandemic period from April 2020 to May 2021.
The film tells the story of Martin’s rise to power in the 1990s and reflects on her personal experiences, including her husband’s assassination attempt in 2010. It is produced by Black Bear, Anonymous Content, Votive, Fifty-Fifty Films and Yoki. The film, starring Ben Foster and Merritt Wever, was released theatrically on November 7.
