Mumbai: Alia Bhatt attended the prestigious Met Gala wearing a saree by renowned Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, which was meticulously crafted by 163 “dedicated individuals” investing “1965-man hours” to create the “ethereal ensemble”.
Alia shared her Met Gala look wearing a saree on the carpet on Instagram. The color palette of the saree paid homage to the “beauty of nature”.
Describing her look, Alia said that it is called “Garden of Time – An ode to art and eternity”.
She added, “Timelessness is endless, and we recognize that things crafted with time and care can last forever. In our journey to an Indian interpretation of this universal theme, the dress took on a life of its own.”
“Nothing symbolizes tradition and innovation like the saree; In the skillful hands of #SabyasachiMukherjee, this vision found its fullest expression. We looked to the past as a guide for the future, taking inspiration from the timeless sophistication of Indian nobility.
The actress said: “We focused on the intricate craftsmanship, including hand embroidery, precious stones as well as the elegant beading and fringes that characterize the 1920s fringe style. Our color palette pays homage to the beauty of nature, echoing the earth, sky and sea.”
Talking about the look, Alia said she “chose a delicate nostalgia for the hair and make-up – an elevated hairstyle adorned with intricately woven braids and soft bangs – a nod to the gentle caress of time.” Homage.”
“Making it has been quite an experience… equal parts fun and stressful. The collective effort of 163 dedicated individuals including master craftsmen, embroiderers, artists and dyers took a total of 1965-person hours to create this ethereal saree.
After this the actress thanked her team for her look.

The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event held in celebration of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. This is one of the most special events of the year.
