Cynthia Erivo was with Ariana Grande at the Singapore premiere of the film Wicked: For Good when a fan greeted her. Cynthia has now shared her thoughts on the incident that happened to her and co-star Ariana Grande during the premiere of their film in Singapore on November 13.
While both actors were walking the ‘yellow’ carpet, a 26-year-old man named Johnson Wayne jumped the barricade and headed towards Grande. As Entertainment Weekly reports, he put his arms around Grande and started jumping up and down.

Erivo said at a special screening of the film at the Television Academy in Los Angeles on Saturday, “Even more amazing is the fact that there are other people who saw themselves in this movie, in that character, and still see themselves and feel safe. That, to me, is the pinnacle of what I could want from anything I’ve done. And I’m so glad that in order to do that, I got to look into the eyes of this person next to me.” Entertainment Weekly Report.
She then added, “And we’ve been through some things. We’ve gone through some things in our lives, in our daily routines. I mean, fuck, even last week. Let’s be honest, for fuck’s sake, we’ve really had to deal with some things, and this movie has really allowed us to grow as people, as friends, as sisters, as artists, as actresses.
All about the wicked: for the good
Following the massive success of Wicked: Part One, the sequel will be released in theaters on November 21st. According to Elle, both the original film and its sequel were shot back-to-back, and hence, see the return of the cast from the first film.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Ariana Grande as Glinda, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, and others in various roles.
Being a musical, the film will feature a number of songs, many of which were also heard in the first film. Two new songs are upcoming, also composed by Stephen Schwartz.
This film will give a new and unique twist to the usual bad vs good conflict. Erivo herself said on an episode of Awards Chatter last year that the film avoids pitting characters into simple categories of positive and negative and tries to understand the complexities of human behavior.

According to Elle, Grande expressed similar thoughts. He also emphasized the themes of love and forgiveness shown in the film. For him, the film is very different from the first part and is “very special and very emotional”.
