Hema Malini skipped the prayer meeting organized by Dharmendra’s first wife Prakash Kaur, instead held a separate prayer meeting

New Delhi: Actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol organized a prayer meeting in the memory of their late father and the veteran star Dharmendra not only attracted attention with his outspokenness Along with the sadness was the notable absence of his second wife, Hema Malini, and their daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

When the prayer meeting of the Deol family was going on, a Pandit was seen coming to Hema’s house. Later, celebrities including Mahima Chaudhary, Sunita Ahuja and her son Yashvardhan were seen attending the function at Hema Malini’s residence. Esha Deol’s ex-husband Bharat Takhtani also came to pay tribute to her.


Sunita Ahuja later confirmed on screen that Hema had organized a bhajan sandhya. She said, “Hema ji had adopted the path of Bhagavad Geeta and bhajans. So, we all listened to bhajans. I could not stop crying in front of Hema ji.”

Family Division for Memorials of the Day

The main prayer meeting in Mumbai was organized by Dharmendra’s first wife Prakash Kaur along with their sons Sunny and Bobby Deol. During the entire ceremony, no member of Hema Malini’s family was seen at the venue.

Dharmendra, who married Prakash Kaur in 1954, has four children, Sunny, Bobby, Vijeta and Ajita. He had two daughters, Isha and Ahana, from Hema Malini.

Celebrities join Deol family in Mumbai

The Deol family hosted a public memorial event titled “Celebration of Life” at a hotel in Mumbai. Dharmendra’s first wife Prakash Kaur attended the ceremony along with all their children Sunny, Bobby, Vijeta and Ajita. Actor Abhay Deol was also present along with his grandsons Karan and Rajveer Deol.

Many Bollywood stars including Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, Shabana Azmi, Jackie Shroff, Sidharth Malhotra, Suniel Shetty, Ameesha Patel, Fardeen Khan, Nimrat Kaur, Sonu Sood, Anu Malik, Subhash Ghai, Abbas-Mustan and filmmaker Anil Sharma paid tribute to him.

Dharmendra passes away

Dharmendra died at the age of 89 on 24 November, a few weeks before his 90th birthday on 8 December. He was recently discharged from Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and is recovering at home. The last rites of the legendary actor were performed in Mumbai on November 25.
