Acharya Pundarika Goswami Maharaj is from the Madhya-Gaudeshwara tradition of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He comes from the distinguished lineage of Gopala Bhatta Goswami, one of the six eminent Goswamis of Vrindavan, personally inspired and initiated by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Born on 20 July 1988 in Vrindavan, he is the grandson of renowned saint Atul Krishna Goswami Ji Maharaj and son of eminent Bhagwat Katha speaker Shribhuti Krishna Goswami Ji Maharaj. Thus spirituality, devotion and scholarship are the basic foundation of his life.
As the 38th Acharya of Radha Raman Temple, established by the disciple of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Pundarika Goswami Maharaj has done many historic works which have raised the flag of the religion and strengthened Vaishnava traditions.
Historical Spiritual Milestones
Vaishnav Acharya Pundarika Goswami Maharaj has achieved many unprecedented spiritual achievements. He is the first Vyas to organize Bhagwat Katha at Upa Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the seven-day Katha was hosted during the tenure of Honorable former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
He is also the first Vaishnava Acharya to narrate the Bhagavata Katha in the premises of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, a landmark moment in contemporary spiritual discourse. Moreover, by organizing a three-day Geeta Satsang at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, he became the first Vaishnav Acharya to introduce the country to the combined glory of Ganga and Devbhoomi through this sacred platform.
During the Bhoomi Pujan and Pran Pratistha ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, he represented the Vaishnava tradition as a prominent guru, being seated prominently in the front row – an acknowledgment of his spiritual authority.
Revered by saints and spiritual leaders
Pundarik Maharaj is counted among the most respected Vaishnav Acharyas of the country. Eminent spiritual leaders like Morari Bapu, Rameshbhai Ojha, Guru Sharanand Maharaj, Avadheshanand Maharaj, Gyananand Maharaj, Sadhvi Ritambhara, Swami Ramdev, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Swami Chidanand Saraswati have heard his stories. In view of his contribution, Morari Bapu honored him with the prestigious Tulsi Award.
He organized a seven-day Bhagwat Katha at the Krishna Janmabhoomi complex in Mathura, personally arranging all aspects of the event and charging no fees. In Kolkata, he narrated a special Bhagwat Katha at the residence of the Birla family, which was attended by Rajshree Birla and Aditya Mangalam Birla.
Linking traditions and spiritual unity
Acharya Pundarika Goswami Maharaj has continuously worked towards spiritual harmony. He was the chief guest at a historic event aimed at uniting the northern and southern traditions, bringing together Madhvacharyas and Vaishnava acharyas for the first time.
Under the leadership of Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, he organized Hanuman Katha for the first time in two years at Bageshwar Dham. He welcomed Bageshwar Sarkar to Vrindavan during his visit to Braj and made him see Banke Bihari ji. Recently, Premananda Maharaj honored him as an Acharya, acknowledging the respect and hospitality shown by Pundrika Maharaj’s family during his early, lesser-known years.
Education, scholarship, and global outreach
Despite an impressive educational background, Acharya Pundarika Goswami Maharaj chose a life of devotion and service. He completed his early schooling in Mathura and earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Delhi University. He later pursued higher studies at Oxford University. After his father’s untimely demise he returned home and completed his education through distance learning while juggling family responsibilities. He has also studied religious texts extensively and has been awarded a doctorate degree.
Remarkably, his journey as a preacher began at the age of seven, when he delivered his first discourse on the Bhagavad Gita. Today, he travels throughout India and abroad, preaching Katha and Dharma in Hindi, English and Sanskrit, as well as giving sermons in countries such as Canada, Africa and the United States.
In 2017, he shared his personal spiritual journey on the TEDx platform through a talk titled “From Religiosity to Spirituality”, which provided insight into his inner transformation and spiritual growth.
Nimai Pathshala: A Mission of Inclusive Education
Through his visionary initiative Nimai Pathshala, more than two lakh students have joined for free. This effort transcends age and caste barriers and has been widely appreciated for its inclusivity and impact. The initiative received global recognition at an event held at the United Nations Headquarters, where his wife Smt. Renuka Goswami highlighted its reach and importance.
