Avatar Fire and Ash Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 3: James Cameron’s film has earned $257 million overseas, including $57 million in China alone.
Avatar Fire and Ash Worldwide Box Office Collection, Day 3: James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third installment of the franchise, debuted on a strong note in overseas territories, particularly China, even though its domestic collections were somewhat underwhelming. This enabled the film to meet projections and gross over $300 million in its opening weekend. However, this figure was much lower than the previous Avatar film, and not even the highest of the year.
Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office Update
Avatar: Fire and Ash was projected to gross $86–90 million in North America during its opening weekend, and according to trade figures, it delivered on that promise with a gross of $88 million. The studio that produced the film, Disney, reported that the film grossed a whopping $257 million overseas, largely due to a record-breaking $57.6 million opening in China. It took its opening weekend earnings to a respectable, but not particularly impressive, $345 million. In comparison, Avatar: The Way of Water opened to $441 million three years ago.
Avatar Fire and Ash lost to recent hits
The biggest blemish on Avatar: Fire and Ash’s record is that it has been unable to register the biggest opening weekend of the year. It lost to Disney’s animated feature Zootopia 2, which set a record-breaking pace earlier this year with a $560 million debut. Avatar: Fire and Ash also lost to some other non-grand recent blockbusters, such as Barbie ($356 million), Moana 2 ($389 million), and even the Chinese animated feature, Ne Zha 2 ($431 million).
