Sydney Sweeney, who stars in The Housemaid and Christy, aims to make impactful films that address tough topics like domestic violence.
Sidney Sweeney wants to make movies that “save people’s lives.” In a recent interview with the BBC, the 28-year-old said she wants her films to make an “impact”. This year, she starred in The Housemaid and the biopic Christy. Both films address domestic violence, which she believes is a “prevalent” topic.

The Euphoria star takes “great care” when playing such roles. “To be able to make a film that is on a more commercial level and talks about a very difficult subject was important,” he told the outlet. Addressing her latest thriller, based on Frieda McFadden’s best-selling novel of the same name, Sweeney said she is a “huge fan of the book” and loves “all the characters” in it.
Describing the film as a “dream project”, Sweeney admitted that he likes “complex, juicy, crazy, complicated stories”. She stars alongside Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar in The Housemaid. Their characters, Nina and Andrew Winchester, employ the Echo Valley star’s character, Millie Calloway, as a live-in house help.
Seyfried compared herself to Sweeney, saying, “We have a similarity that’s uncanny, and it’s really fun to work with people. [who] Living life in a similar way, having similar ideals about job and life.”
Sweeney agreed with the 40-year-old, explaining that the two have developed a “dynamic” where they “enjoy being around” each other. This means they can “go to these crazy places and discover so much more within your character.”
The Housemaid co-stars recently made headlines for their joint appearance at the Los Angeles and New York premieres of the Paul Feig film. While Sweeney channeled old Hollywood glamor with a white and silver gown, Seyfried stunned in a pink and red dress.
