Mumbai: Bollywood’s Greek God Hrithik Roshan shared a glimpse of his cultural roots and proudly talked about letting his “25 per cent Bengali blood” shine through.
For those unaware, Hrithik has Bengali blood through his grandmother Ira Roshan, who was a Bengali Brahmin. She was married to famous music director Roshanlal Nagrath.
The actor shared his love for Bengali cuisine on Instagram and tagged his post with #shonarbangla and #machharjhol.
He wrote, “This is the 25% Bengali blood inside me that is shining. #ShonarBangla #Machharjhol.”

Hrithik was given the nickname Duggu by his grandmother Ira, which is a contrast to his father Rakesh Roshan’s nickname Guddu.
The actor’s image seems to be from before his cousin’s wedding as he was wearing traditional attire.
Hrithik penned a long note in the caption on Friday as he wrote, “My dear Ishu, your presence in my life transcends blood and family. You are a rare and extraordinary human being, who adds to my life and the lives of everyone in this family in more ways than you can imagine and in more ways than we and your family can consciously list. Over the past few years, I have watched you grow into a deeply committed, passionate filmmaker.”
He further mentioned, “I see strength in your silence, strength in your gentleness, and your constant quest to find your place under the sun inspires me. Eshu you are a giant inside. Don’t be afraid of your power. Release it.”
“You are the best brother and partner I have. Today as you and Aishwarya embark on this new journey as husband and wife, I wish you achieve as much in your personal world as you do in your work world. Remember that both are equally gratifying and both worlds demand their own unique, sometimes strange skills that I am sure you will enjoy mastering. Congratulations my brother”.
He concluded: “And welcome to the Aishu family. You are as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside. I can’t wait to get to know you more! Love you guys”, he added.
On the work front, Hrithik is now making his debut in the OTT sector as a producer with “Storm”. Hrithik is joining hands with Prime Video for the thriller, which is set in Mumbai. Production is set to begin soon, reports variety.com.
“Storm” is produced and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ajitpal Singh, who directed the series “Tubber” and the Sundance selection “Fire in the Mountains,” reports variety.com.
In April 2025, it was announced that Hrithik is all set to make his directorial debut with ‘Krrish 4’ as he takes over the helm of a franchise that he has shaped and nurtured over the last 22 years.
The film is being produced by Yash Raj Films in collaboration with Rakesh Roshan. Indian superstar Hrithik Roshan will be juggling between the two departments of directing and acting for the film as he plays the titular superhero in the franchise. The shooting of the film is scheduled to begin early next year.
