It’s a very nostalgic and emotional experience: Sunil Shetty on Border 2 and son Ahaan’s debut

Mumbai: One of the most awaited war dramas, Border 2, has released in theaters today, and its release is special for more reasons than one.

The film not only brings the world of Border back to the big screen but also marks the Bollywood debut of actor Suniel Shetty’s son Ahan Shetty. As film lovers are all set to watch the second installment of the patriotic drama, emotions are running high in the Shetty family.

Sunil Shetty, who became a household name after playing the role of BSF officer Bhairav Singh in the original Border, said he is experiencing this moment both as an actor and a father. For him, the day is full of memories of the first film and hope for his son’s future. He described the release as “nostalgic” and “emotional”, especially because Borders was a turning point in his career.

Speaking to ANI, Sunil first spoke about how the day brings back old memories and how he feels “excited” and a little “nervous” for his son Ahaan.

“It’s a very nostalgic and emotional experience today, and the day itself is emotional. Border, you know, started with all of us, Sunny pa, Akshay, and now it’s the second one. I’m excited for Ahaan, excited because he’s in good hands. The story is written by Nidhi Dutta, and with a strong producer like T-Series, Sunny, Varun and Diljit all working together, I feel Ahaan is in safe hands,” he said.

He said, “If everything goes well, it will be very beneficial for them. It is important to love the work you do. But from a success perspective, I believe we are safe, and it is a good film. After Dhurandhar, it promotes patriotism and roots cinema. So, I am nervous, but happy too.”

Sunil also spoke about the power of the uniform and how wearing it changes an actor from within.

He said, “I think the feeling is different. For an actor, when the makeup is on, you feel ready for the camera. And when you put on the uniform, you know you are emotionally fully charged. The EV battery of emotions, I would say – our emotional vehicle is fully charged. And you don’t perform there. You don’t act there. It’s you.”

Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh and stars Sunny Deol in the lead role. The film also stars Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles. It is inspired by the true events of the India-Pakistan war of 1971 and shows how the Army, Navy and Air Force come together to fight together.

The film is produced by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with JP Dutta’s JP Films.
