BAFTA 2026 nominations announced: DiCaprio leads the fight with 14 nods, followed by Michael B. Jordan’s Sinners and Timothée Chalamet’s Marty Supreme.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has finally released the nominations for this year’s edition. Michael B Jordan’s ‘Sinners’ and Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘One Battle After Another’ lead the nominations, followed by Timothée Chalamet’s ‘Marty Supreme’.

Following Tuesday’s announcement, the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed political satire ‘One Battle After Another’ leads the BAFTA nominations with 14 nominations overall, just two shy of the record set by ‘Gandhi’ and on par with ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, ‘Atonement’, ‘The King’s Speech’ and ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’, Variety reports.

The Ryan Coogler-directed film Sinners follows Leonardo’s film with 13 nominations, providing director and actor Michael B. Jordan their first trip to BAFTA as nominees.

Just below, ‘Hamnet’ and ‘Marty Supreme’ both came in with 11 nominations, with Timothée Chalamet returning to the BAFTA leading actor race for the second year in a row.

With ‘Hamnet’, director Chloé Zhao’s film has now received the most BAFTA nominations from a female director, reports Variety.

As of the recent awards show, ‘One Battle After Another,’ ‘Sinners,’ ‘Hamnet’ and ‘Marty Supreme’ are all in Bafta’s five-strong Best Film category, along with ‘Sentimental Value,’ which gives Stellan Skarsgård his first Bafta nomination at the age of 74.

Local indie titles “I Swear,” “Pillion” and “The Ballad of Wallis Island” made good on their promising performances on the longlist stage, taking out the Outstanding British Film category and taking home other major awards – including leading actor in the case of “I Swear” star Robert Aramayo. All three films also made it to the screenplay categories.

As far as snubs go, Jacob Elordi’s “Frankenstein” received eight nominations but didn’t win best picture or director, while “Wicked: For Good” received two nominations for costumes, makeup and hair.

Indian indie film ‘Boong’ co-produced by Farhan Akhtar has been nominated in the children’s and family film category at BAFTA. The film is directed by Lakshmipriya Devi.
