Arijit’s decision has given rise to widespread speculation. Rumors range from his alleged disillusionment with the music industry to a simple case of boredom, which the singer himself hinted at in a tweet. Another theory doing the rounds is related to a ‘recent patriotic song’ which he reportedly did not want to sing.
A Reddit post late on Tuesday night claimed that the song in question is Ghar Kab Aaoge Hai, a new version of the iconic Sandesh Aate Hai from the film Border, which was featured in Border 2 with Sonu Nigam, Vishal Mishra and Diljit Dosanjh.

However, HT City contacted Border 2 co-producer Bhushan Kumar, who dismissed the claims: “Please call and ask Arijit, it’s all nonsense.”
Insiders claim disappointment
The Reddit post alleges: “Insiders reportedly say Arijit is deeply frustrated with the way big labels work, especially a powerful music label mogul known for creative micromanagement and aggressive commercial calls. The final blow, according to the chatter, was the recent underwhelming remake of a patriotic song, something Arijit reportedly wasn’t creatively involved with, but was still expected to come out with.”
Arijit spoke openly about his decision
Addressing the decision publicly, Arijit Singh explained: “There is not one reason behind it, there are many more reasons and I have been trying to do this for a long time. One of the reasons was simple, I get bored very quickly, which is why I keep changing arrangements of the same songs and presenting them on stage. So the thing here is that I am bored. I need to do some more music for a living.”
He said that part of his inspiration comes from seeing new talent: “I’m excited to hear a singer come in and give me real inspiration.”
Arijit revealed plans to return to Indian classical music: “I’m going to go back to Indian classical music. I want to go back to making music. I want to start over. God has been really kind to me. I’m a fan of good music and will learn more as a younger artiste in the future and do more work on my own.”
He also clarified that he will fulfill pending commitments, saying, “So you may get some releases this year. Let me make it clear that I will not stop making music.”
