While Ahan’s debut film ‘Tadap’ co-starring Tara Sutaria did not perform as expected at the box office, his performance received praise from audiences and critics alike.
Talking about that phase, Ahan said that he was contractual after Tadap, which stopped him from signing new films.
He said, “Tadap made Rs 40 crore at a time when films were not even crossing Rs 10 crore. People said the film did poorly in terms of numbers, but we made profits. That said, the film came with expectations and after that things became difficult.”
He further added, “My confidence was very low during that time. I was bound by a contract with Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, so I was not allowed to sign any other film for four years. I got a lot of offers, but you can’t violate the contract.”
How did Ahan Shetty come to Border 2?
The actor also shared how he was approached for Border 2.
“JP Dutta sir and Nidhi didi came to the house for dinner. Nidhi didi suddenly asked me, ‘How would you like to be a part of Border 2?’ I told him we would talk about it when it happened. She laughed and said, ‘Ahan, it’s happening now,'” he recalled.
He admitted that initially he was skeptical about being associated with such a big project.
He further added, “For a few days, I couldn’t believe that they wanted to make me, a newcomer, a part of such a big film. I was not able to work for four years and was fighting a battle in my own mind. Being a part of this film means a lot to me.”
