According to the Mayo Clinic, TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé fan favorite Jenny Slaton has been diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, a fatal and progressive neurological condition that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing muscle weakness and loss of mobility and speech over time. Currently there is no known cure for it.
Jenny who is 68 years old and her husband Sumit Singh who is 38 years old revealed the news in an interview PeoplePrior to his return to television on Season 3 of 90 Day: The Last Resort. The couple live in India and have been franchise favorites since they first appeared on The Other Way in 2019. He learned about the diagnosis in December 2025.
The first warning came in December 2024, when Sumit noticed that Jenny was choking badly while drinking water. Soon after, she began experiencing migraines and having difficulty swallowing pills. The couple initially assumed it was some kind of infection and after Jenny started medication, her condition improved slightly. But then her speech started slowing down and she started avoiding conversation completely.
“That’s when we knew something was wrong,” Jenny recalled, according to People.
Things became more public when Jenny attended the 90 Day Fiancé holiday party in New York City in December 2025. Fans watching the Holiday interview noticed that her speech was noticeably slurred, leading many to speculate that she had suffered a stroke. tmz. Sumit initially thought she was tired from the journey. But when an online commenter suggested his symptoms resembled ALS, Sumit looked into it, and what he found stopped his cold.
“And then I found out that the symptoms he had looked like this,” he told People.
“We cried and held each other,” Jenny tells PEOPLE about the moment they received the news, adding that the diagnosis has both of them “scared” for what’s ahead.

Why did Jenny and Sumit finally decide to make the heartbreaking news public?
Despite the heartbreaking news, Jenny and Sumit are not giving up. Doctors have said that the progression of Jenny’s ALS is slow.
Jenny is now exploring genetic testing to find out if she has the ALS gene, which could potentially make her eligible for medication to slow the progression of the disease. She has also joined online communities to connect with others and learn about existing and emerging treatments.
Jenny and Sumit had initially decided to keep the diagnosis private, in hopes of finding some kind of solution before it went public. But after months of trying, they decided it was time to speak out and hoped their openness might help from unexpected places.
“At first, we tried to keep it private because it was so emotional and overwhelming for us,” the couple wrote in an Instagram post, according to TMZ. “We were hoping to find some kind of solution before speaking publicly. But after trying for a while, we feel now is the time to reach out.”
Jenny told People that by sharing her story, “maybe someone will come forward with something” that could make a difference.
“Right now we’re just watching and exploring,” he said.

Jenny and Sumit say their relationship is stronger than ever
Through it all, Jenny and Sumit say their relationship has grown even stronger. Jenny has made it clear that she doesn’t want her diagnosis to change the way people see her or treat her.
“I don’t want to be treated any differently,” she said. “Let’s live our lives as we were, while we can.”
Sumit reveals how taking care of Jenny has completely changed his perspective on love.
He said, “Honestly, I’ve never felt this much love, or that I could love anyone that much.” “I… lived for myself. And that’s why we do things for each other, and that’s what keeps each other happy.”
