Mumbai: Actor Imran Khan recently gave fans a glimpse of his new home. On Saturday, Imran shared several pictures on his Instagram account, which show a beautiful house under construction and amidst nature.
The post included pictures of the house at various stages of construction. Along with the pictures, Imran wrote a long caption, in which he explained how he designed his house, from getting the site off to the interiors and how he has been building the house over the years.
Emraan wrote in the caption, “So… one of the things I did in the last few years was building a house. Though I have played an architect in a few films, I can’t claim any kind of training or expertise… but I do enjoy building and learning things!”
“I chose this site because it was unique. Uneven, surrounded by two seasonal streams, right next to a cliff… and facing the sunset. I knew immediately that the landscape would have to dictate the design of the house. The intention was not to create a luxurious holiday villa, but to create something that takes inspiration from the landscape. The house is not meant to be the view, it is a shelter from which to admire the view.”
“I visited the site at different times of the first year and observed the sunrise and sunset, the flow of rivers during the rains, and the changing leaves according to the season. This gave me a holistic basis from which I could revise and redraw my sketches,” he said.
“After consulting with my contractor and a structural engineer, I decided to forgo concrete slab construction, and instead follow the traditional method used to build houses in the surrounding villages; stone platforms for the base, single-storey brick walls, steel roof beams, and pre-fabricated insulated roofing sheets. That was it.”
On a closing note, he shared, “It took a while, and it’s a little uneven around the edges… but it was an enjoyable process. And in the end, it cost me less than I would pay for one of those pre-built villas I keep seeing advertised all over the area. I wonder where the markup goes.”

Meanwhile, Imran Khan is preparing to return to Bollywood after a gap of nine years, which will be a significant moment in his career.
Imran Khan was last seen in the 2015 film ‘Katti Batti’ in which he starred alongside Kangana Ranaut.
