Amethi: Smriti Irani, who defeated Rahul Gandhi in 2019, lost the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma by 1,67,196 votes. After not being elected from the Amethi Lok Sabha seat, the former actress wrote a post on Instagram accepting her defeat and highlighting her hard work over the past several years.
Smriti Irani wrote, “Life is like this… a decade of my life was spent moving from village to village, building lives, nurturing hope and aspirations, working on infrastructure – roads, drains, khandjas, bypasses, medical colleges and more.”
He also expressed his gratitude to those who stood by him through good and bad times.
Smriti Irani said, “I will always be grateful to those who stood by me during defeat and victory. Congratulations to those who are celebrating today. And to those who are asking, ‘How is the enthusiasm?’ I tell them – it is still high, Sir.”
Not only fans reacted to the post, but Smriti’s friends from the entertainment world also showed their support in the comments section.
Actress Mouni Roy, who worked with her in the popular serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, commented, “Always with you (red heart emoji).”
“Keep working hard, that’s all” veteran actress Neena Gupta commented. Actor Sonu Sood left a red heart emoji in the comments section.
Actress Aashka Goradia also supported Smriti Irani. “Every day with you! Nothing can and will never stop you from your good deeds! With all my might,” she wrote.
A few hours after the results were announced, Smriti Irani also held a press conference in which she said that she has given 10 years of her life to Amethi and will continue to serve the area in the future.
Smriti Irani said, “I express my gratitude to all the BJP party workers and supporters who have worked with dedication and loyalty in the service of the constituency and the party. Today I am grateful to PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath that their governments have completed 30 years of pending work in just 5 years. I congratulate those who won. I will continue to serve the people of Amethi.”
“We will strengthen the organisation. We are the people who have served this area with loyalty. I went to every village in the area and worked. I have given 10 years of my life to this area,” she said.
