Sharmin Segal is continuously being trolled for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Alamzeb’. HiramandiRecently, he opened up about its impact on him, his mental health and more. In an interview pinkvilla, When Sharmin was asked if trolling has had any effect on her mental health, she replied, “I have been working on my mental health for a very long time in my life. It’s not just my entire acting career. It’s something that when you start understanding yourself better, it becomes very easy to realise that you live in a very big world with a lot of people with a lot of opinions.”
Talking about the audience’s response to her performance as Alamzeb, Sharmin said, “I have chosen this profession to fulfill the audience’s needs, so I was prepared for the reactions and responses and I got a lot of love too. Sometimes seeing negativity, we completely skip positivity. Maybe that happened in the first few days. I just felt a little uncomfortable, but after that, it is always a constant dialogue with yourself. You have thoughts, and then you think about those thoughts, make decisions, and that shapes morals and ethics.”
Talking about how she deals with negativity online, Sharmin told Pinkvilla, “So, basically you keep having that internal dialogue with your inner self, and then you pull yourself out, even if you are down. But I don’t think it affected me that much later because you have to get out of it fast because there are people who are saying positive things as well. And, I can’t deny it just because those people have taken their time to write good things about me. And, I can’t suddenly focus on someone who has taken their time to write negative things about me.”
Sharmin said that she is getting a lot of love in her DMs. “If it’s constructive, then yes I am very open to hear it. But if it’s not, then you have to pay attention to the amount of love. My DMs are filled with a lot of love. Negativity is talked about a lot in public because people want to talk about negative things but there is a lot of positivity too which I need to embrace as well,” Pinkvilla quoted Sharmin as saying.
