Mumbai: Director JP Dutta’s cult classic “Border” completed 27 years on Thursday and actor Sunny Deol gave fans a big surprise by announcing the sequel “Border 2”. Sunny shared an announcement video on Instagram.
In the video, he says, “27 years ago, a soldier had promised that he would return. He is coming to fulfil that promise and to say his salute to the soil of India.”
Sharing the video, he wrote, “A soldier is coming again to fulfill his 27 years old promise. India’s biggest war film, #Border2. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta and directed by Anurag Singh.”
As soon as he shared this exciting news, fans and industry members reacted in the comments section.
Sunny’s sister Esha Deol responded with an evil eye emoji.
One user wrote, “Wow, eagerly waiting sir.” Another user commented, “Wow, this is a very good announcement.”
Another comment read, “Woooooooo can’t wait.” On Wednesday, Sunny teased fans with one of her videos, which she captioned, “Exciting announcement tomorrow, can you guess?!”
Border 2 is written by Nidhi Dutta and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar and JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. It will be directed by Anurag Singh. The story is reportedly based around the Battle of Longewala and the shooting will begin in October this year.
‘Border’, released in 1997, is a story set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. This patriotic film featured actors Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Sunil Shetty and Akshay Khanna in lead roles.
The film won millions of hearts not only for the storyline and the incredible acting of the actors but also for its beautiful musical score. The song ‘Sandese Aate Hain’ by Roopkumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam was a huge hit.
Meanwhile, after the phenomenal success of Gadar 2, Sunny is now all set to come up with Lahore 1947.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film stars Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol. Produced by Aamir Khan, the much-awaited film will release on Republic Day next year.
