A film by Mary Melbourne, Imtiaz Ali, Onir, Reema Das and Kabir Khan wins the best film at the 27th UK Asian Film Festival

New Delhi: Celebrated ‘Laling and Belling’ by winning two prestigious honors at Anthology Mai Melbourne, The Tungs on Fire, Flame Awards 2025, Best Film and Special Festival Awards by reviewed by critics. The film, which has recently released the earnings earned worldwide, is echoing equally with audiences and critics.

Director Onir, who operated one of one segment in Anthology, said, “This project was close to my heart because it gave us an opportunity to tell stories, which crosses stories, boundaries and touches the universal feelings of longing and related. I am humble to be a part of this beautiful journey and pride.”

My Melbourne is an ambitious cross-cultural anthology that contains four stories, discovering each identity and related subjects. The film is a unique mixture between the acclaimed Indian and emerging Australian filmmakers, providing a unique cinematic dialogue on multiculturalism and belonging.

Reema Das said, “My Melbourne was born with a desire to reflect the fine, everyday realities and their emotional visits. This belief is special because it tells us that these personal stories are also universal.”

Responding to the victory, Mitu Bhomik Lang, director of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and producer of My Melbourne, said, “We are incredibly honored and grateful to this belief. My Melbourne is a labor of love that celebrates authentic voices and live experiences. It is not for every story.

Sharing his views on recognition, Imtiaz Ali said, “Working on Melbourne was a deep rich experience. To be honored in this way to see that it confirms the importance of stories that detect human feelings beyond geographical limits. It is a proud moment for all of us.”

Kabir Khan expressed, “Cinema has the power to bridge cultures and promote sympathy, and my melbourne is a will for him. I have actually been a part of a project that brings such meaningful narratives into life and is recognized on a global stage.”

My Melbourne stands as a powerful reflection of contemporary authentic experiences, and its prestigious belief is a proud moment for Indian and Australian cinema.
