A glimpse of Shiv Ganesh in the music festival of Kedaram Trust

Madurai Shivaganesh started his concert with Muthiah Bhagavathar’s ‘Shakthi Ganapatim’ in Nattai. The perfect accompaniment was given by Ragul on the violin, Sherthalai Ananthakrishnan on the mridangam and Sunil Kumar on the kanjira, making the concert feel like driving on the German Autobahn and setting the right rhythm.

Shiv Ganesha takes a lesser-known route in Vivadhi RagaNabhomani sang Thyagaraja’s ‘Nyadavanchana’. The kalapramanam of the percussion accompanists was soothing, giving the right tonal effect to the mood of the kriti.

Shyama Sastry’s ‘Ninuvina Mari Galada’ in Rithigowla was next. Sivaganesh was able to touch the lower notes with ease and clarity, and his creative space in kalpanaswaras and alapanas was wide. The friendship between Sunil and Ananthakrishnan was clearly complementary to each other.

In ‘Naanu Palimpa’, Sivaganesh displayed loyalty to his lineage by effortlessly changing the vocal tones (Grihabedham)., Shortfrom the melodyFrom Mohanam to Madhyamavathi.

Tani Avartanam was an elaborate programme, with both Ananthakrishnan and Sunil Kumar showcasing their intricate calculations to the fullest. Unlike other concerts, they launched all their choraivasFromUmm To Idem And he chose Kuraipu in Kanda Nadai. Overall, Thani was not only brainy but fun-loving too. Farran And Servalgus. Ananthakrishnan’s favourite is the mridangam (Kappy) And his style was reminiscent of Guru Karaikudi Mani.

Shivganesh concluded the concert with a soothing Ashtapadi ‘Sanchar Dadhara’.

Talented Duo

Young and talented sisters Nidhi and Gauri Chandrasekhar started their concert with ‘Maal Marugan Shanmugan Murugan’ in Hindolam by Thanjavur Shankara Iyer. This was followed by a wonderful rendition of ‘Jai Jai Ramanatha’ in Naattai by Narayana Tirthar. They presented their one and a half hour concert in such a way that there was no boring moment in it.

Srilakshmi Bhatt accompanied her skillfully on the violin. Srilakshmi gave an elaborate rendition of Mohanam. Nidhi and Gauri complimented each other well and brought out their respective strengths. It took them some time to settle down and their rendition of ‘Sri’ Kanthimathim in Raga Hemavathi was more fluent and elaborate. They decided to do Nirval in ‘Shuddha Tamaraparnita’.With the good support of Sri Lakshmi,

Jaidev’s mridangam accompaniment was simple and balanced (the bass side could be well tuned for a better balanced sound). His brief thani began with the tisra nadai and he ended in the final korvaiIt was structured in such a way that it naturally led to the line ‘Shuka Shaunakadhi’, which the singers chose to begin the kalpanaswaras.

This concert also included a kriti by Devagandhari ,Kshitija Ramanam Chintaye’) and ‘Jagadodharana’ in Kapi, Arunagirinathar’s Thiruppugazh ‘Erumayil Erivilaiyadum’ in Ragamalika covers ragas like Bageshri, Hamsanandi, Kamboji and Kedargoula.

The concert concluded with Patnamasubramanya Iyer’s Thillana in Khamas and ‘Karunai Deivame’ in Sindhubhairavi. With the right guidance and rigorous practice the young sisters can perform well.Practice,
