During the 15th anniversary program
Tarang, monthly cultural initiatives for individuals with special requirements, their care and family members started by V-Xacel Educational Trust, 15 years old.
The seeds of this initiative were sown in 2011 by the Sumnasa Trust and the V-Xacel Educational Trust, which were “Sushravya” to bring music close to children with special needs and their families.
As part of this initiative, famous musicians were invited every month to the Mandewali campus of the V-Axel Educational Trust. As it gained popularity, the monthly program went to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and was renamed as a wave.
Tarang was kickstarted with the support of composer Bombay Jaisri. S. Somya later came on board as a supporter. Other personality of the world of performing arts, including singers, instruments, dancers and Harikatha artists, also began to support this initiative.
Since June 2018, Usha Suresh has been leading Tarang that provides a platform for both the famous personality and upcoming talent in the field of music and dance.
With a good mix of contemporary music, mild music, Karnataka music, hymns, Harikaths and dance recurrences, Usha has brought diversity and vibrant in concerts. Artists like Unnikrishnan, Sai Vignesh, RP Shravan and Sikkil Gurcharan have enriched the wave through performance.
Fifteen instrument players were the main attraction of the 15th year celebration. One may ask that children who are sensitive to the sound deal with music celebrations. In fact, many of our artists were mesmerized by conversation with children and interactions with children and adults in the audience and were able to match the songs known with artists.
Over the years, waves have given special needs to children and trainees an opportunity to listen to equipment such as Nagasvaram, Flute, Sarangi and Ghatam.
Children with sound sensitivity learned to accept echoing sounds and melodious music, who are restless, they learn to sit in a place for an hour for an hour, people who were shy came out of their shell to present on stage with artists. Some also used to walk on stage in deep music transactions and dance for music. Some learned to request songs and some learned to recognize the song in the same ragam.
During the epidemic, the program made videos were uploaded to the YouTube premiere, and many times the artists gave live concerts.
What has started with a small set of children from V-Xycell Educational Trust, who enjoyed music, has collected speed. Today, the wave goes to the whole house. We continue to invite students from two other special schools for our events.
The wave is open to all those who want to be a part of their journey. What started as a small seed of goodwill for society is able to change some life and inspire something for a bright and quiet place in this world.
