Aamir Khan addressed allegations of ‘PK’ Bailsh, ‘Love Jihad’

In a recent interview with Bharat tvAamir defended the film against these allegations, saying, “We are not against any religion. We respect all religions and all religious people. This film asks us to be alert to those who exploit religion so that the common man is foolish to withdraw money from them.

Aamir talked about a scene of the film, including a Hindu woman (Anushka Sharma) who marries a Muslim person (Sushant Singh Rajput). When two people of two religions, especially Hindus and Muslims fall in love and get married, it does not always love jihad, he said. “This is just humanity, which is above religion.”

The actor asked if his sisters are marrying Hindu men, love is Jihad. Aamir’s sister, Nikhat is married to Santosh Hegde, while Farhat’s husband is Rajiv Dutta. The actor’s daughter Ira Khan married Nupur Shikhare in 2024. Aamir is married to both Hindu women, Reena Dutta (1988) and Kiran Rao (2005).

Talking about her child’s name (Ira Khan, Junaid Khan, Azad Rao Khan), Aamir said, “My children are named by my wives. There was no interference from my side. The husband does not have much in these things”. He said that Reena named her children Junaid and Ira. Aamir said, “Ira (Goddess) is another name for Saraswati. Have you heard about Iravati? It’s just that Reena wanted to pronounce it differently,” Aamir said that Ira’s name was taken from BJP Minister Maneka Gandhi’s book Penguin Book of Hindu Name.

As Azad, Aamir clarified, “I am sure you must have heard of Chandrashekhar Azad. He was also a freedom fighter. It’s a neutral name,” saying that Kiran named his son Azad after his ancestor, Maulana Azad, a freedom fighter.
