New Delhi: Aamir Khan is not a stranger for unconventional decisions, but his latest step has talked to the entertainment industry for his upcoming film ‘Sitare Zameen Paar’ to be selected for a theater-infinite release. In an era where most of the large-tick films find their way for OTT platforms within the weeks of dramatic release, Aamir’s choice has attracted both curiosity and praise to keep back from streaming.
Today, during a recent group conversation in India, Aamir opened about backlash and resistance to the industry partners to choose the traditional route. Asked how other people in the film fraternity reacted to his decision, ‘Dangal’ star revealed that it was none other than Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, who assured him what he needed.
Aamir Khan shared, “Everyone was suggesting that we go in a traditional way, but I was adamant about a theater-care release. That night, when I met Mr. Bachchan, I don’t know what came to me, but I opened him about my concerns. I told him that friends told him that friends and well-working people told me that you are not always doing it.”
The actor admitted that although he had moments of doubt and fear, he strongly believes in the sanctity of dramatic experience. “I was scared and was uncertain,” he admitted, saying that an eight -week digital window weakens the very essence of cinema.
Explaining that he has no problem with OTT platforms, Aamir said that he does not get the current time -round fair for the cinematic medium. He said, “I received offers, but I turned down them because I want the audience to go to theaters and watch my film. I believe in cinema, and I believe in my audience,” he said.
