AANAND L Rai reacted to Raunjhanaa Re-Release with the end of AI: ‘My film is no more’

Filmmaker Aanand L Rai has objected to an alternative alternatively to his 2013 romantic drama ‘Ranjanana’, which is now set to re-release theaters with “Happy” twist in theaters on 1 August. Dhanush’s character, Kundan, dying in a political rally at the original end of the film, is fully aware of the betrayal by a woman played by Sonam Kapoor.

However, the surprising version of the film was done without an artificially generated new climax where Kundan is alive, without knowledge or consent of opinion.

AANAND L RAI says that he was not informed about AI ‘pleasant end’

In a conversation with the screen, Rai said, “I came to know through social media announcement a few days ago. People are already giving a message to me why that end is being changed. I can’t just wrap my head around it.”

Rai revealed that after discovering the online update, he reached the producers at Eros International, who still holds the rights of the film, but his objections were allegedly rejected. Now he is planning to formally request that his name be different from the edited version again. He said, “I didn’t get it, how can they do this? It’s an end that loves people! If not a filmmaker, listen to the audience at least,” he said.

Rai tampered with Ragajna’s original climax

The director was particularly harassing the way the studio is using Artificial Intelligence, not to increase the story, but to re -write its emotional core. “What is a pleasant end? It is a tragedy, it is a feeling. How can you pay attention to emotions? The voice of the film lies at that end,” he argued.

According to Rai, the new version has been sold to a distributor, Apswings Entertainment in Tamil Nadu, possibly for the “test water” in that market. “Maybe they are trying to test water in Tamil Nadu before. They have sold it to a distributor there and have already earned out a few crores. But if you commit a crime in Rome, it’s still a crime! Even if you are issuing it in Tamil Nadu, where we don’t do much about a appearance, but I am responsible for his image.”

Opinion on using AI

While Rai accepts the power and ability of AI, he said that the responsible use of technology is required. “They say, AI is the future. Everyone knows. But then use it for the future or for the present. Do not use it to distort the past!” He said, “If you buy a picture by an artist, you can add a mustache to it, but you cannot definitely use it again for commercial benefit.”

Rai warned that such a step may separate actors and creators from working with studios who prefer short -term profits on creative integrity. He said, “They will soon realize this, when the actor and the audience will return to him. No actor would like to work with him anymore. Perhaps they no longer want to work with the actors. They only plan to make films with AI,” he said.
