A project called Lover of Men: The Untold Story of Abraham Lincoln reveals that he had “steamy gay sex sessions” with male partners. The documentary’s official synopsis includes never-before-seen photos and letters written by leading Lincoln scholars that delve deep into the details of Lincoln’s romantic relationships with men.

The recently released trailer of this documentary showcases Honest Abe’s personal life and his relationships before his tenure as the President of the United States. Directed by Shawn Peterson, the documentary features interviews with historians, scholars, and Abraham Lincoln experts.
The documentary claims to explore Lincoln’s sexuality through letters he wrote to his male lovers. Shawn Peterson claims he exchanged several ‘love letters’ with his male friend Speed over four years. Speed was one of Lincoln’s closest friends with whom he spent his younger days. One of the letters in the trailer reads, “Dear Speed, I would be so lonely without you, love Lincoln.”

The topic of Lincoln’s sexuality has long been a topic of interest to scholars and historians. Earlier popular works about his sexuality include a feature story in Solon Magazine in 1999 and a book called The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln by author Clarence Arthur Tripp.

The synopsis of the documentary is as follows:
The film is said to include historical evidence to prove its claims and “broadens its lens on the history of human sexual fluidity and focuses on the profound differences between nineteenth-century sexual mores and those of today.”

The documentary will be released in cinemas worldwide on September 6.
Netizens react to Lincoln’s documentary
The documentary garnered a lot of attention with the release of its trailer. Tesla owner Elon Musk wrote on X, “Everyone already knows he was a gay vampire!”
“Ok that’s a bit exaggerated, the man had a wife and kid. Let the man rest in peace and don’t let his name come out of your mouth! Lol,” one x user commented.
Another user wrote, “Interesting, and this isn’t new information, it’s been discussed for years. Curious to know who you interviewed,” while another wrote, “The movie “Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter” was more historically accurate than this,” referring to the 2012 film.
“The abolitionist of slavery was gay,” one user wrote on X, while another defended him, writing, “All evidence supports the fact that he had male friends. That doesn’t make anyone gay.”
