Mumbai: The mortal remains of mythological actor and director Manoj Kumar were brought to his residence in Mumbai for family members and was close friend to pay his final honor.
The ambulance carrying the body of the actor from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai was beautified with garlands and flowers as a tribute to the superstar, who left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
Manoj Kumar, known as “Bharat Kumar” for depicting patriotic roles, died on April 4, 2025 at the age of 87. His passing marks the end of an era in the Indian film industry.
The funeral of the actor will be confirmed by his son Kunal Goswami, at Pawan Hans of Vile Parle, Mumbai on April 5, 2025 at 11:30 am.

Born on July 24, 1937 as Harikrishna Goswami in Abbottabad (now in Pakistan), Manoj Kumar became a domestic name for his roles in patriotic films.
His prestigious performance in films like ‘Cess’ (1967), ‘Purba and Paschim’ (1970), ‘Kranti’ (1981) and ‘Shahd’ (1965) gave him the title of “Bharat Kumar”.
His work not only entertained the audience, but also created a sense of national pride.
Apart from acting, Kumar was also a successful director and producer. The beginning of his direction, ‘Cess’ won the National Film Award for the second best feature film.
His other major successes as a director include ‘Purba and Paschim’ and ‘Roti Capada Aur House’ (1974), both were made acclaimed and commercially successful by critics.
Kumar also earned the prestigious awards, such as Padma Shri (1992) and Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2015).
Manoj Kumar’s death surprised the nation, which has a tribute to political leaders and major figures in the film industry.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Kumar a “icon of Indian cinema”, accepting his ability to inspire national pride through his films, paid his honor.
President Draupadi Murmu, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and many other political figures also expressed their grief, praised the actor’s significant contribution in Indian cinema and his unwavering dedication to patriotism.
