Actor Nick Pascal, accused of repeatedly stabbing his estranged girlfriend, a Hollywood makeup artist, has been arrested in Texas. He is believed to be trying to flee the US to Mexico.
On May 23, Pascal allegedly broke into the Sunland, California home of award-winning makeup artist Ally Shehorn and stabbed her 20 times around 4:30 a.m. Shehorn suffered multiple injuries, including cuts to her neck, arms, and abdomen. Her surrogate mother found her later in the day covered in blood. Pascal and Shehorn are believed to have first met on the set of Rebel Moon.
What are the charges against Nick Pascal?
Pascal has been charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of first-degree residential burglary in the presence of a person, and one count of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, or parent of a child, according to a press release from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.
The press release states that artist and special effects creator Shehorn, who has worked on films such as Mean Girls, Rebel Moon and Babylon, “recently filed a restraining order against Pascal.” According to the release, Pascal is charged with “inflicting serious bodily injury to the victim under circumstances involving domestic violence” and “personally using a knife during the crime.” He then fled the scene.
According to the LA District Attorney’s office, he will be transported to Los Angeles County. He was apprehended and taken into custody at the US/Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas.
“My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident,” District Attorney George Gascon said in the press release. “Our office, including the Victim Services Bureau, offers its support and resources to her as she continues on the long and difficult journey to recovery from the physical and emotional trauma she has suffered.”
“This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the person responsible for this heinous act is held accountable for his actions,” he said.
A GoFundMe Reports initially released for Shehorn said she had to undergo multiple surgeries due to her injuries. She remained in intensive care for several days, but was discharged on May 28 and moved to another part of the hospital.
