Actor Shaveta Menon approached the Kerala High Court on Thursday (August 7, 2025), demanding an FIR registered by the Ernakulam Central Police on the charge that he had played a role in films with obscene and pornographic materials for financial benefits and was sent through social media and adult sites.
Thus, he was accused under Section 67 (A) of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and under Section 3 and 5 of the Immortal Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, based on a complaint by Martin Menchary, a directive was issued by the police of Ernakulam, Ernakulam, Ernakulam’s Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
Alleging that the FIR was malafied and sick, Ms. Menon presented before the High Court in her petition that the films were certified by CBFC and were publicly released years ago.
He said, “I have a good reputation in the society and a magistrate has implicated the police as an accused in an offense due to the mindless reference to the police. The complaint increases absurd and fictional allegations that do not attract crimes, even prima facials.”
It is important to note that the petitioner painted in the film Paleri Manikyam, The complainant who says as obscene, received the Kerala State Award for Best Actress. He said that other films mentioned (by the complainant), they were also accepted in the public domain as their quality in the public domain, in the petition.
These films were made by the actors who were at the peak of proficiency in their respective fields. An appearance in a condom advertisement was also duly duly sensor and available in public domains, he said in the petition.
The FIR against the actor comes at a time when it is contesting for the post of president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) in the election of the Executive Committee of the Body of the actors to be held on August 15.
