Stand-up comedian Veer Das took a tongue-in-lamp on the new rules imposed by the 78th Cannes Film Festival-no nudity or “voluntary” outfit on the red carpet. A day after the Film Festival opened its doors to the world, Veer Das wrote a satirical post on Instagram.
It reads, “It is deeply regretted that I declare that I will no longer participate in the Cannes Film Festival due to new red carpet rules. Nude voluntary gowns with large trains for many generations are culturally specialized to the comedy community. Castrology.
“I was planning to take many selfies of cultural importance. But someone has to take a stand. I wish the festival.”
After a protesting topless appeared on the Cannes Red Carpet in 2022, the Cannes Film Festival banned the red carpet and banned nudity and voluntary organizations.
Meanwhile, the transparent dress of Bianka Censor, which created a ruckus in Grameies earlier this year, also played an important role to implement this decision.
Considering the “institutional structure” of the festival and the French law, the festival issued an official statement. It read, “This year, the Cannes Film Festival has clearly clarified in some rules in its charter that have been in impact for a long time. The objective is not to regulate the dress from the objective, but to restrict complete nudity on the red carpet according to the event and the institutional structure of the French law.”
In addition, the festival said that it “reserves the right to deny access to individuals whose dress can disrupt the movement of other guests or complicate the seating arrangement in the screening room.”
This festival will continue till May 24. Indian celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shalini Pasi, Sharmila Tagore, Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor are a part of the festival this year.
