Ahmedabad aircraft accident: missing filmmaker Mahesh Jiravala confirmed dead

Ahmedabad: A few days after the tragic Air India accident, who killed more than 270 people, the death of Gujarati filmmaker Mahesh Jiravala has been officially confirmed through DNA analysis.

The 34 -year -old director, who was reported missing by his family after the June 12 disaster, was one of the passengers whose remains were seriously included in the debris.

Air India flight, route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed on 12 June, slammed at the BJ Medical Hostel in Shahibagh. Initially, Mahesh’s family was unable to accept his death even after a positive DNA match.

However, the police investigation – with CCTV footage, along with CCTV footage – helped confirm their identity – forensic evidence such as engines and chassis numbers such as engine and chassis number.

The body was later handed over to the grieved family. Mahesh Girdharbhai Kalwadia, who is widely known from his professional name Mahesh Jiravala, was a prominent person in Gujarat’s music and short film industry. He led his own production company, Mahesh Jiravala Productions, and was known for directing regional materials including the 2019 Gujarati film ‘Cocktail Prem: Pav of Revenge’, including actors Asha Panchal and Vrati Thakkar.

Residents of Naroda, Jiravala were active on social media, often posting updates about their creative projects. His disappearance was initially a complaint with a missing person at Naroda police station, who was filed by his brother Kartikbhai, when he got out of the house and did not return.

After the accident, it was only after matching DNA and presenting technical evidence that the authorities could explain to the family of his tragic demise.

Jiravala’s identity is part of the widespread ongoing effort by the authorities, which continue to match DNA samples from the accident site with relatives.

As of June 20, DNA matches have been confirmed for 220 victims, 202 mortal remains have already been handed over to families. The incident is under investigation as the authorities continued the investigation into the cause of the accident and worked towards closing hundreds of bereaved families.
